Fall has arrived. I love the crisp cool days we’re having here in Portland. The leaves are beginning to turn, and there’s usually a bit of fog in the mornings. This is the view from my window.

The cooler weather has inspired me to knit. I’ve got ideas whirling in my head. Here’s what’s on my Lantern Moon needles right now.

First off, socks! These are on my beloved ebony 6 inch US size 2 Sox Stix.

A couple days ago, the socks looked like this.

Am I regressing instead of progressing? No, it’s a very cute construction technique. You can read more about it on my PDXKnitterati blog, if you’d like.

I’m also playing around with an entrelac idea with some Noro Silk Garden Lite and my US 7 ebony circulars.

And a different idea on another ebony circular (also size 7). This yarn is worsted from Pico Accuardi Dyeworks.

And swatching another idea in sport weight wool, also from Pico Accuardi, and ebony Sox Stix in size 4.

I guess it’s pretty obvious that I love ebony needles!

Oh, one more item on the needles. But it’s just a swatch that I used to teach a private lesson over at my LYS. It was an express version of my Tink Drop Frog/how to fix mistakes class. Note the dropped stitch in the middle! What my student didn’t know was that she was previewing the new needles that are coming soon. I’m not even sure what the name of these will be, but I love knitting with them. They’re really light weight.

What’s on *your* Lantern Moon needles this fall?

Lets see: a shawl on ebony, mittens on ebony, and a million to cast on!

Impressive. Wish my Moons were the longer ones. The five inchers I have are great for socks but I can’t use them until after the first decrease in making the hats I’m doing this month!

  3. I do love the 6 inch. But for hats, I decrease until I can’t reach around the short circular any longer; I still like circs better than dpns. But I like dpns way better than two circulars or magic loop, so it’s all relative. Knitter’s choice!
