It’s nearly Thanksgiving, at least here in the US, and I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m lucky to be able to knit for fun, design a bit, teach knitting, and blog both here for Lantern Moon and over at PDXKnitterati. It’s a joy to be part of the Lantern Moon team.
Thanksgiving is just the beginning of a whirlwind of holidays for me. Friday is the traditional kick off of holiday shopping season. Are you a shopper or do you prefer to make your gifts? What Lantern Moon goodies would make your holiday knitting easier? Not a holiday knitter? What’s on your Lantern Moon wish list? Leave a comment and let me know. After Thanksgiving weekend, I’ll choose a winner at random to receive a care package of Lantern Moon fun.
Good luck!

I prefer making gifts for those that I know will truly appreciate the time and effort that went into the gift. For the kids in the family, I plan on making scarf and hat sets in their favorite colors. I am thankful that I can give a “piece” of myself to my family members during this season.
I just started knitting, and was immediately attracted to your products! I usually shop, but this year I would love to make things as well with my new found skill! I absolutely love the sheep tape measure, and a basket and a tote bag would do wonders to keep me organized. Right now, my yarn is all over my room! My Lantern Moon wishlist includes the rice basket, the maya floral small project bag, the brown sheep tape measure, and a lovely pair of ebony needles
As I look through the Lantern Moon offerings I keep getting drawn back to bags and baskets. I always have several projects going, and it is nice to be able to keep them separated. On the other hand shawl pins or stitch markers would be very useful. Then again, Isaw those beautiful buttons…
Ohhh I was just talking about wine bottle decorations with my mom the other day. We were talking sweaters. but these are cute too.
Love the Lantern Moon project bags. I have one, not sure which, and it’s my all time favorite bag. Enjoy the holiday!
I love your knitting needles & the whole history of your company.
Definitely NOT a shopper! :shudder: I’d much rather be at home knitting or crocheting my gifts!
My Lantern Moon wish list? A whole bunch of crochet hooks and dpns to distribute to the kids I want to teach for my BSD Project. I really want to leave great tools in the hands of those kids!
We are making most of ours this year. It’s what the budget requires. I’m using lots of ebony needles and tape measures, oh and baskets! to get the job done. I think needles are pretty helpful. I can’t seem to have enough!
I think a dpn needleroll tops my wishlist this year. I keep my dpns in little baggies by size, but they would so much prettier in a real needle roll. ‘cus we know, I’m all about the PRETTY! LOL
Wishing y’all a happy Thanksgiving and a blessed Christmas season.
I am currently working on knitted gifts this year. Our budget requires that I use up my stash of yarn and fabric. We are trying to have a baby so I have been looking into project bags that will keep all my “stuff” together and out of little hands. Happy Holidays!!
I have made two scarves for Christmas presents. I usually do more, but I’m involved in a project for myself that I want to finish. This time the knitting is all about me. I have on my wish list one of the maya floral project bag so that my husband doesn’t call me the bag lady anymore. I carry my knitting project in a brown paper bag I get from the shop. Not cool.
I love to make gifts but most years it turns out half and half – haven’t figured out how to make electronics yet! I love Lantern Moon products but my funniest story has to do with your warehouse sale. My sister, an occasional knitter lives in Portland. I live in Florida. I pleaded with her to go to your warehouse sale. When she called me on the phone lost while driving to the sale, I pulled up your website and google maps and coached her turn by turn till I heard, “oh, here it is!” I put in some requests, but made her not tell me what she found for me, I want it to be a surprise!
I love your products. I have a needle holder which has been extremely useful. Would love to find a black sheep. Hope to win. Happy holidays.
I knit alot of gifts for friends and socks for my boys but they still like the toys too. All lantern moon goodies are great. They are are the best needles and I have a bag as well. Great stuff. Thanks and happy thanksgiving
I love all your products, currently wishing for some of your beautiful knitting needles. I am making my Christmas presents, just finished a Fair-Isle hat that turned out really nice. Also knitting baby things for my first grandson due in April.
I am always knitting something and I am always in need of a bag for the next round of startitis…and Lantern Moon has the best bags
I also love the knitting needles.
Definitely NOT a shopper, and especially not on Black Friday, and especially not when and where there’s a crowd! I only give handknitted items to people I know will appreciate them, and even then I try not to make it a habit, so that it can be a surprise, not a foregone conclusion. My Lantern Moon needles are my very favorites — wish I had a set in every size!
I’ve been trying to make our stuff for several years. Lots of knitted items have gone to people and they seem to really appreciate them. This year though I’m way behind and knitting a LOT. I have had bag envy looking at Judy Becker’s beautiful Tasha bag, and I’m sure something like it would help me tote things around.
Not in the US so Thanksgiving doesn’t happen here. But on my wishlist would be a project bag as I always seem to have more projects than bags!
I do some buying and some homemade gifts. I love to give knitted gifts becuase usually the receiptant knows how much time and effort you put into the gift and for loved ones that is so special.
I love everything Lantern Moon (I think I actually might put that on a Wish List one year) but the knitting needles are my fav. So beautiful on and off a project and so warm and comfy to use- perfect for winter knitting!
Happy Thanksgiving Lantern Moon!
I love to make homemade gifts, but only if I’m sure that the recipient will like it. Wish lists are big in our family. That way there’s less letdown on the big morning. The swing bucket or vui tote would certainly go on MY wishlist! Drool!
One son’s wish list reads:
Thick wool socks
Wool scarf
Fishermanknit sweater
12-string guitar
It feels great to knit for someone who puts hand knit things at the top of his list. The other son is getting hand-knits too, but just the socks and scarf. He won’t wear sweaters
This is the year for knitting gifts. I’m knitting up a storm for Christmas. Hats, berets, mitts, slippers, anything that can be done in a few days. I’ve already decided I’m not doing this again next year! It’s fun to have a goal and I’m looking forward to when it’s over and I can concentrate on my own projects.
I’ve never used “luxury” needles, and I’d love to try the Destiny circs. Thick wool yarn on dull bamboo needles is no fun when you’re in a hurry!
I’m a new knitter and am totally obsessed now. Friends and family have something I’ve made but I’ve yet to make something for me. I love the products but the interchangeable knitting needle set most of all.
Happy Thanksgiving!
most of the recipients on my Christmas list are not lucky enough to get something handmade.
I love, love, love the Lantern Moon needles. And the project bags. And the needle rolls…
Your knitting needles would be at the top of my wish list, any of them (I was drooling over the interchangeable, but really you can’t go wrong with any of them). I prefer to make my gifts and I give gifts all year long. I especially like to give them to people who really need them. There is nothing so rewarding as giving a gift, even the littlest thing just brings so much happiness. I would be content with anything from your shop, but the needles would allow me to create more gifts. Thank you for the contest.
I have a few knitted items tucked away from this year’s projects, but mostly I tend to give them away as soon as I’ve finished them. As for the giveaway question, I’m most interested in Lantern Moon’s project bags and beautiful needles. Hope your Thanksgiving is filled with warmth and love.
I love everything Lantern Moon does – bags, needles, hooks, tape measures, stitch markers – all of it! I’m knitting as much as possible this year and would love to supplement my bag of tricks with the beautiful Lantern Moon additions.
I bought one of your baskets at your warehouse sale and just love it! I can put so much in it ~ using it for my wool work. Love everything on your site!
I’d love anything from Lantern Moon ~ I’ve had my eye on the Swing Bucket and the Bali Handuc Shopper.
I love, absolutely love, the baskets with the nice leather handles. Perfect for bringing to farmers’ markets – a great place to find local yarns – and for storing yarns and projects, while looking stylish in my hand or in my apartment. I usually make something for those who I have (A) never made something for before, and therefore do not know how they’ll react, or (B) people who I know appreciate handmade goods (i.e. friends who I know won’t re-gift or not use a handmade object).
I am definitely not a shopper and I love making unique handmade gifts for my family and friends! A few weeks ago my boyfriend bought me the turtle tape measure and I also got my first pair of wooden knitting needles from Lantern Moon. I absolutely love everything you guys sell and the fact that it’s not mass produced. The things at the top of my wishlist: the baskets and the strawberry stitch markers <3
i am so thankful i have learned to knit this past year. it’s a hobby that continues to be so rewarding to me. every time i learn something new it’s like magic. your products have that magic component. so, thanks!

I used to be a Black Friday fanatic. No more. This year, I have already knit 3 scarves, several hats, and washcloths to go in gift baskets with home made sugar scrub and soap. I love the sheep door mat! I just received mine on Monday, and it makes me smile every time I open my front door. I have several project bags, which are wonderful, and needles. I would love to receive interchangeable needles for Christmas, or baskets, or tape measures… Shoot, I want it all!
I love to make gifts, yet the timing always seems to be the end of me. The holidays arrive in such a whirlwind and by the time I choose my project and get the supplies, the holidays are past & the gifts are still here at the house. Last year I made earrings, knitted scarfs and hats for friends and family. This year I came up with the idea of sewing together quick and easy wine feet, coasters, and knitting baby hat sets. I hope to get most of it completed, yet there is still college homework, work papers to finish and the holiday decor to place up.
I hope I win to help me along the way with my gifts . . .
I love everything about “Lantern Moon” so if I win Everything would be Golden, I make Slippers every year as Christmas gifts so of course they are called “Christmas Slippers” I also put together “Snowman soup” to go with the slippers!!! and I need to make more Slippers!!!! So “Lantern Moon Santa” Please pick me!!!!
This year I’m creating a gift mix of handmade items and store bought. It’s fun to shop, but even more fun to create.
A needle case for my dpns which keep tipping on to the floor and a set of interchangeable needles would make MY knitting life divine!
This year is my first year knitting gifts for my family. I am I enjoying it.
I prefer to knit gifts for my family and close friends. I was knitting socks last weekends when my cheap circular needles came apart and couldn’t be repaired. I could sure use some Lantern Moon Needles.
I have been knitting up a storm. I made 4 scarves for the Special Olympics between 2 scarves for my daughters. Now I’m going to start a sweater for my older daughter and then one for my youngest. I love, love your knitting needles. I have a couple of Rosewood and a pair of ebony. They’re devine! My wish list would be a project bag or 2 since I usually have at least 2 projects going at any time, a black sheep measuring tape, some knitting markers (they’re so cute!)… Honestly, I love Lantern Moon. Your quality is fabulous! My mother’s arthritis has been particularly bothersome this fall so I bought her some circular needles. The wood has reall made a big difference. She used to knit 2 or 3 rows a night but she’s been able to double that with the rosewood so she’s not avoiding her knitting any more. Nice to make an old knitter happy.
Happy Holidays to you and your families!
I love the feel of your knitting needles. I am just learning to knit. I would like a set of double point needles and circular.and straight needles cuz I never know what to buy.
I enjoy making gifts and prefer to window shop–via the internet. Still, a good morning spent in an actual knitting shop sure is a pleasure. On my Lantern Moon list would be lots of needles, every variety, especially DPNs. I enjoy my Lantern Moon project basket but I make so many project bags, I would rather have more needles.
I prefer to make a good number of gifts, but I think some of those Lantern Moon baskets would be great – even for non-knitters (perish the thought!)
Karen
Oh I love the lantern moon things! I would like the little cloth box yarn keeper with a hole for the yarn and some lovely straight needles (if I’m knitting a lace scarf I like to use straight needles..it helps me see the pattern better)
Just discovered lantern moon and I am in love. I must get some of the knitting needles! Thanks.
